Biography

Marjorie Parish grew up in Jefferson County, Iowa. She graduated from Pekin High School in Iowa and earned an Associate of Arts degree from Indian Hills Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in English from Northeastern Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University), and a Master of Arts degree in English from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. She enjoyed a rewarding career teaching English for many years and continues to explore opportunities in writing, research, and preserving stories that connect people and communities.

Marjorie is the author of Sweetheart Letters and the article “A Maid Right Saturday Night,” published in Our Iowa magazine.

Through extensive research, interviews, and the collection of photographs and historical records, Marjorie compiled this history to honor the faith, service, and dedication of the generations who established and sustained Methodism in Rushville. It is her hope that this book will preserve the church's rich heritage and inspire future generations to continue its mission of faith, worship, and service.
